How to Record on DISH Network

How to Record on a DISH Network DVR
Although the Hopper DISH Network DVR gives you the most flexibility when recording, you can also record DISH programs on classic ViP DVR receivers.
Record Specific Programs via Search, Guide, or Game Finder
- Use voice or manual search to find the DISH program you want to record or select it directly from the Guide or Game Finder.
- Hit the Record button on your remote. If your remote doesn’t have the Record button, hit Select, then the Record icon with the red dot.
- Set a recording timer from the options provided (e.g., every week, specific episodes, etc.).
- To stop a program recording on DISH Network, navigate to My Recordings, select the title or episode, and hit Edit to change or cancel the timer.
- To remove title(s) from your library, navigate to My Recordings, select the title or episode, and hit Delete.
Record Channels via Manual Timer
- Navigate to the live channel you want to record.
- Hit the Record button on your remote. If your remote doesn’t have the Record button, hit Select, then the Record icon with the red dot.
- Set a recording timer from the options provided.
- To stop a channel recording on DISH Network, navigate to My Timers, select the timer you want to change, and hit Edit to change or cancel it.
Record Primetime Automatically with the Hopper
PrimeTime Anytime, a feature built into Hopper DVRs, automatically records primetime TV from syndicated networks — and leaves out the commercials. Here’s how to manage your PrimeTime Anytime recordings:
- Navigate to Settings from the main menu.
- Select PrimeTime Anytime.
- Change the days and channels you want to record PrimeTime Anytime, or hit Off to stop using the feature altogether.
How to Record on the DISH Anywhere App
Provided you have at least one Hopper receiver connected to the internet, the DISH Anywhere app gives you total access to the live channels and On Demand titles included in your subscription — not to mention, your DVR content and settings.
Here’s how to start and stop DISH Network recordings from DISH Anywhere.
- Use search, Guide, or Game Finder to navigate to the program you want to record.
- Hit Record.
- To stop a program recording on DISH Network, navigate to My Recordings, select the title or episode, and hit Edit to change or cancel the timer.
- To stop a channel recording on DISH Network, navigate to My Timers, select the timer you want to change, and hit Edit to change or cancel it.
Have an older DVR receiver? You can stream DISH On Demand and select live channels from the DISH Anywhere app, but you won’t have access to your DVR content or settings. Call 1-800-333-3474 to upgrade to the Hopper today.
