Justin Timberlake Announces MySpace TV
by Brooke
· Celebs, News, TVNice try MySpace, but not even Justin Timberlake can make you look cool. And that’s saying something because he makes practically everything (except Jessica Biel) look better. The forgotten social network has unveiled its plans for MySpace TV, which, according to Just Jared, will be the company’s new ”social TV service that will be available on Panasonic connected televisions.”
While adding a social aspect to television viewing sounds interesting, the MySpace name decreases any and all of my interest in the concept. I am usually excited about anything my man JT has to say, but this one is falling flat and it has nothing to do with the bad taste his engagement rumors has left in my mouth. Besides, who wants to chat and network during their fave episode of Jersey Shore? That’s focused TV time, kids.
I am confident that most of you agree, especially those of you who have moved on to Facebook and Twitter, that MySpace may have been cool back when I was fresh out of high school, but its time has passed.
I am surprised that such a cool guy like Timberlake would not only want to be associated with the company, but put his valuable time (and money) into its potential growth. Sure, he played the MySpace founder, Sean Parker, in the movie The Social Network, but who would have thought he would take the role so seriously? The guy seems to be taking a genuine interest, as he even “took a stake in MySpace for $35 million back in June and will help the company develop its new strategy and creative direction”.
Um… $35 million? Really?
Obviously I’m not too optimistic about the project, but for Justin’s sake let’s hope all goes well. But if my predictions are correct, at least we know that JT will be resilient. He has so many other projects going on, so it’s not like this is a make-or-break deal for him. Maybe its demise will encourage him to put out another album and even go on tour again?
Hey, a girl can dream.
