Flavor Flav and Dee Snider to Appear on Tonight’s Episode of Celebrity Wife Swap

As if the entire idea of taking a wife and mother out of her home and transplanting her into the home of another family with polar opposite beliefs and habits wasn’t bad enough – ABC has done themselves one better by adding celebrities to the mix. Now, don’t get me wrong, we’re talking bottom-tier D-list celebs here – and some who aren’t even celebs, but famous scandal survivors.

Celebrity Wife Swap debuted on January 2, and is two episodes in so far. The first episode featured Tracey Gold and Carnie Wilson. Gold, a former anorexic, predictably runs a highly organized, controlled household while Wilson lives by a more freewheeling and chaotic philosophy. In the next episode it was the hubbies who were famous, Gary Busey and Ted Haggard. Busey’s hypnotherapist fiancé swapped places with Haggard’s staunchly Christian wife for a week of opening minds and hearts across the great spiritual divide.

The major difference I’ve found in the celeb version of the show is a kind of restraint that the regular schmoes don’t usually express. Whether it’s due to being accustomed to living in public view or the advice of unseen handlers, the celeb families have thus far kept the crazy to a minimum. There has also been a noticeable lack of out of control sobbing and I am feeling the distinct absence of yelling and disrespect. Who would have ever thought that adding celebrities to a formula would actually class it up a bit?

Coming up may be the episode that blows my current observation of classing up the joint to smithereens. It’s rapper and reality TV veteran extraordinaire Flavor Flav and Dee Snider of Twisted Sister who’ll be entering the wife swap arena tonight. Anyone who watched any of the installments of Flavor of Love knows that our man Flav can dish up the train wreck that we all love to see when watching celebs on reality TV shows.

And for those of us still crossing our fingers and hoping to see an announcement that Dave and Flav, a show pitched by Dave Coulier of Full House fame, has been picked up, this single glimpse at the clock-wearing rapper will keep us sated for a minute or two. For those of you who may not be on the Dave and Flav train, here’s a sneak peek at the delights that would ensue on this yet-to-be picked up show as shared by Dave himself, “We meet each other on a park bench and then we hear this baby crying, and we look back and it’s a baby in a stroller, and we’re like, ‘What are we gonna do? We gotta take care of the baby,’” he says. “So we befriend each other and raise this baby.” Remember, the “we” in question is Uncle Joey from Full House and the gold-toothed, Viking hat wearing former rapper. As for now, we’ll have to get our Flavor Flav fix by seeing what kind of wacky family life he is able to inflict on Dee Snider’s wife.  It seems that sometimes, even when it comes to gawking at past-their-prime celebs, beggars can’t be choosers.  Let’s just hope that if the response to Tuesday’s episode of Celebrity Wife Swap is strong enough, that some TV exec somewhere will pick up the phone and give Dave and Flav the green light.
